I guess it depends on how close they are to you I'm not sure I can envision someone walking directly over you, even squatted on the ground, like, do they step on either side of you, or are they just next to you and their crotch is head level and hear you, but not directly above their head? (Squatting is generally not a thing Americans do to the level it's done in Chine. We either lean on stuff or find something to sit on. Most Americans wouldn't squat down in a public place)

Here in China, whether you have a close relationship with other people or not, it is always humiliating to pass under someone else’s crotch, even if your head isn’t touching their crotch, still humiliating.
